May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to check in, slow down, and gently reconnect with ourselves in a deeper way.
In a world that often encourages constant movement, productivity, and doing more, mental health support reminds us that it’s okay to:
✨ pause
✨ breathe
✨ move at your own pace
✨ listen to your body
✨ just be.
🌿 Understanding the Nervous System (In Simple Terms)
Your nervous system is constantly working behind the scenes — responding to stress, processing emotions, and helping your body move between states of activation and rest.
If you’ve ever felt this before:
👉 a racing mind
👉 tension in your body
👉 difficulty relaxing, even when you want to
This is often your body being stuck in a heightened state, commonly known as “fight or flight.”
When this happens, it helps to create more opportunities to return to a place of calm.
🧘♀️ How Yoga Supports the Nervous System
Yoga allows us to find both movement and stillness as a way to gently guide your body back into balance.
Through intentional movement and breath-work, yoga can help:
✨ release physical tension
✨ slow the breath and heart rate
✨ bring awareness back into the body
✨ shift the nervous system into a more relaxed state
Even something as simple as child’s pose or a few deep breaths can begin to signal to your body that it’s safe to soften.
🔔 How Sound Healing Helps You Reset
Sound healing works in a different — but equally powerful — way.
Instead of doing, you’re simply receiving.
The vibrations from sound bowls move through the body in a way that can feel deeply calming, helping to:
✨ quiet the mind
✨ release stored tension
✨ regulate the nervous system
✨ create a sense of deep rest
Many people describe it as a feeling of “floating,” or like their body is finally able to fully relax.
One of my 1:1 clients shared that she felt like she had a two glasses of wine after a session — relaxed and at ease.
💫 Why This Matters for Mental Health
When your nervous system feels supported, everything else begins to shift.
You may notice:
✨ more clarity
✨ improved sleep
✨ less reactivity
✨ a greater sense of ease
These practices allow you to create space for your body and mind to function the way they’re meant to.
🌸 Small Ways to Support Yourself This Month
Take some time to fill your own cup and check in with yourself. Try:
• taking a few slow breaths throughout your day
• moving your body gently, without pressure
• giving yourself permission to rest
• spending time in stillness, even for a few minutes
• checking in with yourself: “how do I feel?” “how am I taking care of myself?”
• doing something just for you!
Small moments add up.
Give Your Nervous System the Support It’s Asking For 🧠✨

💕 A Gentle Reminder
You don’t need to push through everything.
You don’t need to be “on” all the time.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…
is slow down, breathe, and let yourself to be supported. ✨
