Self-love can look like a lot of different things.
Sometimes it’s lighting a candle, taking a warm bath, or curling up somewhere cozy. Sometimes it’s movement, routine, and showing up for yourself even when it would be easier not to. None of these cancel each other out. They’re all part of the same practice — learning how to care for yourself in a way that feels honest and supportive.
Yoga doesn’t ask us to choose one version of self-love. It invites us to notice what we need and respond with kindness.
Self-Love Is Personal
One of the most beautiful things yoga teaches us is that there’s no single “right” way to practice — and the same is true for self-love.
What feels nourishing one day might feel draining the next. A strong, flowing practice might be exactly what you need to feel grounded. Another day, stillness and rest might be what helps you feel whole again.
Self-love lives in that permission to choose — without guilt or judgment.
Listening Is the Practice
Yoga gently brings us back into relationship with our bodies and our breath. Over time, we start to recognize subtle cues — when we need more movement, when we need more rest, when we need structure, and when we need softness.
There’s no hierarchy here. Listening is enough.
Responding with care — whether that means rolling out your mat or choosing to rest — is an act of self-love in itself.
Moving With Care, Resting With Intention
Yoga teaches us how to move with awareness and rest with intention. Both are valuable. Both can be grounding. Both can be healing.
A steady practice can feel comforting and supportive. So can slowing down and letting yourself be held by stillness. The wisdom comes from trusting yourself to know which one you need in the moment.
Coming Back to Yourself
At its heart, yoga is about coming home to yourself — again and again.
Not forcing.
Not fixing.
Just showing up with curiosity and compassion.
Self-love isn’t something you have to earn or perfect. It’s something you practice by paying attention and choosing what feels right for you, right now.
✨ In my classes, I aim to create space for both movement and rest — so you can explore what supports you most in this season of your life, and trust yourself along the way.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, this feels like an especially important reminder. Self-love allows us to fill own cup so we can pour that love back into the world around us.
When you take time to listen to yourself, rest when you need to, and move in ways that feel supportive, you create more space to show up with openness and generosity — for friends, family, partners, and community.
✨ If you’d like to explore this in a cozy, supportive setting, I’m hosting a special Valentine’s Candlelight Self-Love Yinyasa Wine Down on 2/13 — an evening of gentle movement, deep rest, sound healing, and intentional self-care. You’re warmly invited to come exactly as you are and spend some time filling your own cup. (Both literally and figuratively🍷😉) See you on your mats!
You can also deepen this practice at home with my free digital Self-Love Affirmation Deck, designed to support moments of reflection, rest, and intention — especially during the Valentine’s season. My Valentine’s gift to you! XO 💘
