With the buzz of summer adventures, long days, and nonstop social plans, it’s no wonder our nervous systems can start to feel a little fried. August, with its late summer golden light and slightly slower pace, offers the perfect opportunity to pause. To reset. To reconnect with your breath and body in the simplest, most nurturing way possible.
This blog is your invitation to indulge in a Restorative Yoga Ritual — a practice rooted in rest, stillness, and nervous system support. No sweat, no striving. Just soft landings and deep exhales.
🌿 What You’ll Need:
- A few props (or couch pillows/blankets)
- A quiet space
- Optional: essential oils like lavender or chamomile
- Soft music or a sound bowl track (or if you have a sound bowl — even better!)
💫 Suggested Restorative Sequence:
1. Legs-Up-the-Wall (Viparita Karani)
A go-to for soothing the nervous system and resetting the body. Elevating the legs allows circulation to flow and calms overstimulation.
2. Supported Child’s Pose (Balasana)
Place a bolster or pillow underneath your torso and let yourself melt. This posture is like an exhale for the soul, softening the heart and inviting surrender.
3. Reclined Bound Angle (Supta Baddha Konasana)
Lie back with the soles of your feet together and knees apart, supported by pillows if needed. This pose opens the hips and chest gently — a perfect space to receive breath and sound.
🌬 Breathwork: Box Breathing (4-4-4-4)
Inhale for 4…
Hold for 4…
Exhale for 4…
Hold for 4…
Repeat for 3–5 minutes. Let your mind settle into the rhythm.
🔔 Invite in Sound Healing
Sound is a powerful tool for nervous system regulation. Whether you’re listening to a crystal singing bowl track or experiencing a live session, the vibrations work on a cellular level to bring your body into a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state.

🌙 Your Summer Slow Down Ritual
Set aside 20–30 minutes this week just for you. Dim the lights. Set the vibe. Let your body be held. Let your mind be quiet. Let sound, stillness, and breath do the work.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do — is rest.
